Your hosts

We are Louise, Amanda and Cami, the faces you will meet at Villa X. We've always felt that the 9-5 life in Denmark was a little too tight. We love a simpler lifestyle that focuses on good vibes and social connections and is ruled by opportunity rather than schedule.

”We've always talked about having a warm sunny base where different people from all over the world could come and take a break and explore and surf and inspire each other – now, our dream is to share that with you”

We have traveled the world separately and together and have worked, studied and lived across the globe.

For years we have had the dream to create our own space for like-minded people to come together and be inspired and learn from one another. While living and working together in Morocco we fell in love with the culture, nature and way of life in this particular spot on the planet – the perfect place for our Villa X.

Cami, what is your superpower?

I studied communications and performance design and always gravitated towards events and bringing people together. Villa X is the real life base for doing just that and the space to mix cultures, traditions, ideas and personalities. I am always thinking about who we can connect with, learn from and collaborate with to create fun, unforgettable experiences.

Why start all over? Why not just get a "normal" job?

My head is buzzing with ideas and in school I felt like the boundaries were too tight to actually make them a reality. Luckily I was studying with Amanda and we were instantly on the same wavelength and totally in sync. I like unpredictable days, I don't like planning to much, too far ahead. Which is both good and bad I guess. But if I work for myself I know I agree compleetly with the boss haha.

Why does Morocco suit you guys so well?

We studied abroad, did field work abroad, saw and lived in many different places and as soon as we finished our bachelor thesis we were on our way to Morocco. Here I feel less restless, a place to slow down and pay attention. Not to be lazy, but to try to be more focused. And it is easy to connect and collaborate with other small businesses, which is really inspiring.

What is your favourite part about your little team?

The distance between an idea and reality is not very far. Three minds can easily say yes, yes, yes OR discuss an idea to develop it and make it much better. We focus on better rather than more and right rather than quick and it feels much better and makes me apreciate everything that much more.

Amanda, what is your superpower?

I have always tried to make travelling a part of everything I have done. I try to take in as much as I can and ask a lot of questions wherever I go. I have started learning Arabic to talk to people in the souk and the streets to feel more a part of this place, show my respect and a genuine interest in life and people here. My curiosity and interest in finding out how things work and how to make things work has earned me the nickname the It-department - so maybe that is it? at least in this group!.

How did you know that you wanted to start your own thing instead of working in an established place?

I could not wait to finish school, move to my own rhythm and start creating something. Cami and I met at university and we instantly knew that we shared many of the same dreams. We worked in hospitality all over the world and knew that it was a good fit for us, but also always felt that we had to make it our own. When we came to Morocco and met Louise, our dream conversations started to become more real and practical and finally they had to become something real.

Why do you love Morocco?

Here we go with the flow. We make plans, but everyone knows that the waves overrule trivial things like plans. Everyone is instantly excited when the big swell hits Anchor Point, even just to watch and everyone is equally restless on a flat day. If I have an idea, someone will always be on board. Even if the idea is, do nothing.

Is that what makes your team work?

The great thing about our little team is that we always listen to each other’s ideas and try to make them happen or make them better. Often we have the same ideas in different colors or sizes and it is so much fun to explore and create together. We will never be finished and that is the beauty of it. Also we don't pretend to know everything. we know when to ask for help and when to collaborate for a better experience for everyone.

Louise, how did you end up with the girls in Morocco?

Even though I think about Villa X 24 hours a day, I actually also have another day job. I am a city planner working with historic buildings and cityscapes in Denmark. I like my job and I am busy. But two years ago I felt restless, and I felt kind of left behind, like I was waiting for something that had already passed.

I took a leave of absence from my job and went traveling for six months, surfing and absorbing different ways of life, to see if I was really missing something, or moving in the wrong pace. Today, here, I know, I am in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.

What do you love about Morocco?

Here, I feel effortlessly healthy and useful. Our life is simple. Eat, sleep, have fun repeat. But all of that is about sharing and socialising and caring for each other. Our actual family is quite far away, but I feel so supported, safe and loved here. If you have a good idea - try. If you fail try again or try something else, or save it as a good story.

Why do this when you already have a full time job that you like?

Here in Tamraght I met the girls and realized that we all had the same idea. So after a lot of thinking and chatting about this social hub, that we all had inside of our heads, we decided to make it a reality. We did talk about smaller plans, like using someone elses place or joining other peoples ideas, but it was always a bit of a compromise, with what we really wanted to do. And the combination of the three of us made it seem so simple, that I had no doubts or stomach aches – only excitement. I couldn't NOT do it.

What is your favourite part of the team?

The energy! Someone is always super excited about something, and that keeps everyone on their toes and is really inspiring. I love the days where we are super busy planning something and everyone is working on a part of the finished result. But I also LOVE the days when the guests are chilling and the sun is out and all we have to do is enjoy it and go with the flow, I think we are quite good at that too :-)
